Purpose of Life (Short Interview with Rick Warren)
some thougths of vianney  @ 02:43 am

Short Interview with RICK WARREN,
Author of best seller book "PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE" and Pastor, Saddleback Church in California USA

You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales.

Interviewed by Paul Bradshaw, Rick said:

People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body -- but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort. God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys,  I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for. You can focus on your purposes, or  you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems,  you're going into self-centeredness,  'which is my problem, my issues, my pain.'
But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life. Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that  I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.
Second, about midway through last year,I stopped taking a salary from the church.
Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.
Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning,  I sit on the side of my bed and say,  God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better.  God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do. That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.

i exist for You...

Title : Even When
Artist : Seven Places
Album : Hear Us Say Jesus (2004)

This week, i prayed, one time
My phone, it rang, i put You on the other line
And now my thoughts they drift around
My knees remain unacquainted with the ground
Unless my faith is put to the test and i am forced to bow
Although i'm in this flesh it doesn't mean You shouldn't have the best
from me, from me

[Chorus]
Even when my eyes are dry
Even when my soul is tired
Even when my hands are heavy, i will lift them up to You
It's not about how i feel, oh Lord i am here for You
i exist for You

i close my eyes but all i see
Is a background of black, bouncy squiggly lines
And this week's mistakes coming back to mind but
i will lift my voice and make a joyful sound
Forget about me, i only get me down
Although i cannot see it doesn't mean i shouldn't sing to You, to You

Chorus

You've given me Your life and have held mine together yet i find
Excuses to slouch in my pew
But when glory divine
Is sitting in my very presence, the least that i can do
Is give my all to You, give my all to You

Chorus

Our Deepest Fear
some thougths of vianney  @ 04:00 am

by Marianne Williamson
from A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Who am I?
some thougths of vianney  @ 03:43 pm

I attended a church event last Friday....and we sang this song. A friend made me listen to this song before...but the song just hit me yesterday, while singing this song...I felt tears forming in my eyes...and I'm so deeply touched by this song...

Title : Who Am I
Artist:  Casting Crowns

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You're

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling

And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours

God Ain't Done Yet
some thougths of vianney  @ 04:36 pm

09/10/2006  - Mosaic Onstage

God Wants You To Soar

3 Flying Equipment

1. God plus you is a Majority

A. Live by the bible
   - "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:" - Exodus 20:9-10
   - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

B. God equips you for what He requires of you
   - "“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.  And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey." - Matthew 25:14-15

   How God shapes you?

Things to remember when in learning mode:

A. Critics are Allies

Ten tips for taking criticism

1. Understand the difference between constructive and destructive criticism
   - use your head, be objective. Is it worth your attention
2. Don't take yourself too seriously
   - learn to laugh at yourself
3. Look beyond the criticism and see the critic
4. Watch your own attitude toward the critic
"A negative reaction towards criticism can be more destructive than the criticism itself"
   - "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered
for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His
steps: “ Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His
      mouth”
; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return;
when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself

to Him who judges righteously;" - 1 Peter 2:21-23
5. Realize good people get criticized
6.  Keep physically and spiritually in shape.
7. Don't just see the critic, see if there's a crowd.
8. Wait for time to prove them wrong.
9. Surround yourself with positive people.
10. Concentrate on your own mission; change your mistakes.

B. Comparisons are normal

   Learn by living with comparison
      - " And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this
Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of
         war from his youth.” " - 1 Samuel 17:33

How should a child of God respond to rejection

   Realities Concerning Rejections

    1. Everybody experiences rejection

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
         You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over." - Psalm 23:5

First, we fear what people will think of us.
Second, we fear what people may say about us
Third, we fear what people may fail to do to us.
Fourth, we fear what people may fail to do for us.

1. Fear God more than men
   - always respond well
   - when rejected, be quiet
   - "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! " - Psalm 46:10

Q.U.I.E.T.

a. Quit revenge
   - "not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing." - 1 Peter 3:9
   - "Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;
      Their foot shall slip in due time;
For the day of their calamity is at hand,
And the things to come hasten upon them.’" - Deuteronomy 32:35
   - "If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
      And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
22 For so you will heap coals of fire on his head,
And the LORD will reward you. " - Proverbs 25:21-22

b. Unrealistic expectations are unfair
   - "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 7:12

c. Inside you is still a work in progress
   - "He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep" - John 21:17

d. Expect good things to come out of the bad ones
   - "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." - Romans 8:28

e. Trust the healer of broken hearts
   - "He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds" - Psalm 147:3

2. You are meant for greater things

   A. You can be better than who you are today
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us," - Ephesians 3:20

Fight the Good Fight of Faith
some thougths of vianney  @ 04:11 pm

Mosaic - 081306 - Gina Atencio

"Fight the good fight of the Faith" - 1 Timothy 6:12a

"As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." - 2 Timothy 4:6-7

"And the LORD was pleased with the sacrifice and said to himself, "I will never again curse the earth, destroying all living things, even though people's thoughts and actions are bent toward evil from childhood." - Genesis 8:21

3 Stages

1st Stage: Fight against complacency

" 2 "Now that my servant Moses is dead, you must lead my people across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.
6 "Be strong and courageous, for you will lead my people to possess all the land I swore to give their ancestors.
7 Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do.

9 I command you--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."" - Joshua 1:2,6,7,9

"The sun rises and sets and hurries around to rise again. The wind blows south and north, here and there, twisting back and forth, getting nowhere. The rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows again to the sea. Everything is so weary and tiresome! No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content. " - Ecclesiastes 1:5-8

"Then Joshua and the Israelites went to Libnah and attacked it. There, too, the LORD gave them the city and its king. They slaughtered everyone in the city and left no survivors. Then Joshua killed the king of Libnah just as he had killed the king of Jericho.
From Libnah, Joshua and the Israelites went to Lachish and attacked it. And the LORD gave it to them on the second day. Here, too, the entire population was slaughtered, just as at Libnah. During the attack on Lachish, King Horam of Gezer had arrived with his army to help defend the city. But Joshua's men killed him and destroyed his entire army.

Then Joshua and the Israelite army went to Eglon and attacked it." - Joshua 10:29-34

"Disturb us, Lord,
when we are too pleased with ourselves,
when our dreams have true, because we have dreamed too little,
when we arrive safely because we have sailed too close to the shore.
We ask you,
to push back the horizons of our hopes and to push us into the future im strength, courage, hope and faith"

2nd Stage: Fight against Compromise

"But if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."" - Joshua 24:15

Judges 1:27-34

Cowardice asks the question: Is it safe?
Consensus asks the question: Is it popular?
Conscience asks the question: Is it right?

                                          -  Martin Luther King

3rd Stage: Fight against Corrosion

"When you have eaten your fill, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.

"But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the LORD your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and laws. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else" - Deutoronomy 8:10-13

"After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the LORD or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did what was evil in the LORD's sight and worshiped the images of Baal. They abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They chased after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them. And they angered the LORD. They abandoned the LORD to serve Baal and the images of Ashtoreth. This made the LORD burn with anger against Israel, so he handed them over to marauders who stole their possessions. He sold them to their enemies all around, and they were no longer able to resist them. Every time Israel went out to battle, the LORD fought against them, bringing them defeat, just as he promised. And the people were very distressed." - Judges 2:10-15

"The greatest hindrance to God's movement is not our weakness but our strength." -Charles H. Spurgeon

"A good reputation is more valuable than the most expensive perfume. In the same way, the day you die is better than the day you are born.

It is better to spend your time at funerals than at festivals. For you are going to die, and you should think about it while there is still time.

Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.

A wise person thinks much about death, while the fool thinks only about having a good time now." - Ecclesiastes 7:1b-4

How To Make Friends For Eternity
some thougths of vianney  @ 03:15 pm

Mosaic (NT) - 080606

"For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus." - 1 Timothy 2:5

"For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus." - Romans 5:11

Christianity = relationship

- Relationships are very fragile.
- Nobody ever teaches us how to build good relationship

How To Build Relationship
"All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling people to him." - 2 Corinthians 5:18

"The greatest you can do for anybody else is to introduce them to Jesus  Christ."

Principles of building bridges of love between your heart and theirs
1. Be Proactive.
"Do unto others as you would have them do to you." - Luke 6:31

2. Be Authentic.
"We can say with confidenceand a clear conscience that we have been honest and sincere in all our dealings" - 2 Corinthians 1:12a
- the whole world knows that you are not perfect so stop pretending.

3. Be Kind.
- Give credence to other people's feelings and fears
- Be more symphatetic
"For we must bear the burden of being considerate of the doubts and fears of others..." - Romans 15:2
"Whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him" - 1 Corinthians 9
How do you do that? by listening with your heart

4. Be Loving
"Follow God's example in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him." - Ephesians 5:1-2
"But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? " - 1 John 3:17
- Everybody needs acceptance
"Look past the behavior and see the hurt."
- Everybody needs affirmation
         "Bear with them"
- Everybody needs assistance
"Do good to those who needed it. Be a blessing to others."
"Because we loved you, we were happy to share not only God's Good News with you, but even our own lives" - 1 Thesalonians 2:8
- Help people who are hurting.

5. Expect God to use you
"Do not worry what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say  for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. " - Matthew 10:19-20
How does it happen? You make yourself available.
"Decide who you will reach out to for Jesus."
"Some things are too important not to share." - The Mercedes Benz commercial about then not patenting their crash-protection frame - crumpled zones

Making Friends For Life
some thougths of vianney  @ 02:39 pm

07302006 - Mosaic Message (NT)

"God said, "It's not good for the Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion." So God formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them. Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name. The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn't find a suitable companion. " - Genesis 2:18

"Just as water mirrors your face, so your face mirrors your heart. " - Proverbs 27:19
Kinds of People We Must Avoid to Be Close With
- Lazy people
  - "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command with the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from any Christian who lives in idleness and doesn't follow the tradition of hard work we gave you. For you know that you ought to follow our example. We were never lazy when we were with you. We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so that we would not be a burden to any of you. It wasn't that we didn't have the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. Even while we were with you, we gave you this rule: "Whoever does not work should not eat.""- 2 Thesalonians 3:6-10
  - "The diligent find freedom in their work; the lazy are oppressed by work. " - Proverbs 12:24

- Angry people
  - "Don't hang out with angry people; don't keep company with hotheads. Bad temper is contagious—don't get infected. " - Proverbs 22:24-25
  - "Moderation is better than muscle, self-control better than political power. " - Proverbs 16:32

- Immoral people
  - "I wrote you in my earlier letter that you shouldn't make yourselves at home among the sexually promiscuous. I didn't mean that you should have nothing at all to do with outsiders of that sort. Or with crooks, whether blue or white-collar. Or with spiritual phonies, for that matter. You'd have to leave the world entirely to do that! But I am saying that you shouldn't act as if everything is just fine when a friend who claims to be a Christian is promiscuous or crooked, is flip with God or rude to friends, gets drunk or becomes greedy and predatory. You can't just go along with this, treating it as acceptable behavior. I'm not responsible for what the outsiders do, but don't we have some responsibility for those within our community of believers? God decides on the outsiders, but we need to decide when our brothers and sisters are out of line and, if necessary, clean house. " - 1 Corinthians 5:9-11
  - "For our perishable earthly bodies must be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die." - 1 Corinthians 15:53
  - "Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes--these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is really an idolater who worships the things of this world. Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him. Don't participate in the things these people do. " - Ephesians 5:3-7

- Greedy people
  - "Those who love money will never have enough. How absurd to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what is the advantage of wealth--except perhaps to watch it run through your fingers! " - Ecclesiastes 5:10-11
  - "Don't eat with people who are stingy; don't desire their delicacies. "Eat and drink," they say, but they don't mean it. They are always thinking about how much it costs. " - Proverbs 23:6-7
  - "The path of the wise leads to life above; they leave the grave behind." - Proverbs 15:24

- Unbelieving people
  - "Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the Devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God's temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:

    "I will live in them
       and walk among them.
    I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

    Therefore, come out from them
and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
    Don't touch their filthy things,
       and I will welcome you.
" - 2 Corinthians 6:14-17
  - "Only fools say in their hearts,
       "There is no God."
    They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
       no one does good!
" - Psalm 53:1

Be friends with those who...
1. Stimulate you mentally.
"Whoever walks with the wise will become wise; whoever walks with fools will suffer harm." - Proverbs 13:20
"As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend" - Proverbs 27:17

2. Supports you emotionally
"A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need." - Proverbs 17:17
"Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ. " - Galatians 6:2

3. Strengthen me spiritually
"So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." - 1 Thesalonians 5:11
"Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds." - Hebrews 10:24
"Anyone who fears you is my friend--
       anyone who obeys your commandments.
" - Psalm 119:63

"The quality of your life will be determined by the kinds of relationship you choose to develop."

R.E.A.C.H.
1. Reach out - be courageous and take the initiative
Fear does 3 terrible things:
- defensive
- distant
- demanding
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. " - 2 Timothy 1:7
SMILE!
"A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit." - Proverbs 15:13
"Since you excel in so many ways--you have so much faith, such gifted speakers, such knowledge, such enthusiasm, and such love for us--now I want you to excel also in this gracious ministry of giving. " - 2 Corinthians 8:7

2. Encourage with your words - be constructive with your words
"Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them." - Ephesians 4:29
-stop excusing
-talk less
-listen more
-start building
Be considerate of their needs
"You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others" - Colossians 3:13
"Disregarding another person's faults preserves love; telling about them separates close friends" - Proverbs 17:9

3. Amplify confidentiality - be confidential with information
"A gossip goes around revealing secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence." - Proverbs 11:13
Gossip is talking about a situation with somebody who is neither a part of the solution or the problem

4. Commit to the friendship - be committed to the relationship
"A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need." - Proverbs 17:17
"There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother." - Proverbs 18:24

5. Honest about problems - be candid about the problems in the relationship
"It is an honor to receive an honest reply" - Proverbs 24:26
- compliment in public but correct them in private
- correct them when theyre up & not when they're down
- never offer correction until youve proven that youre open to it

Not too long ago my husband and one of his best friends had a tiff. After telling me what had happened, my husband told me to delete his friend's name from the cell phone speed dial.

I hesitated and told him he was just angry and not to act too quickly. He insisted he would attempt to do it himself if I didn't, so I did. That is when I had my MountainWings Moment.

I told him, "It's easy to delete his name from the phone, but be careful about deleting him from your life. Friends are blessings from God and even though sometimes they disappoint us, we should realize they are just human."

From nowhere (I know now it was the Holy Spirit) I said, "What if God deleted our names from the Book of Life every time we let Him down? I wouldn't have a chance because I know I fail to live up to His expectations everyday."

Nothing else was said but I thought about it for a very long time. We so often let anger cause us to banish people from our lives for the most trivial reasons, only to regret it, sometimes after it's too late.

Thankfully my husband and his friend worked things out and their friendship survived. What I learned most from the experience was how grateful I am that I serve a loving God who doesn't delete me just because I let Him down.

PRAYER Grant us Lord, that we may meekly accept the authority to rule our lives. Show us the way. Give us the grace and strength to follow Your teachings and do Your holy will.

"As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up" Job 14:11

5 Reasons why people fail...

5. When we fail to plan, we plan to fail

  • "A prudent person sees trouble coming and ducks;
a simpleton walks in blindly and is clobbered. "
    - Proverbs 27:12
  • "We plan the way we want to live,
but only God makes us able to live it. "-
    Proverbs 16:9

4. We fail when we think we have arrived

  • "You may have to draw straws
when faced with a tough decision. "-
    Proverbs 18:18
  • "Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail;
take good counsel and watch them succeed. "-
    Proverbs 15:22

3. We fail when we're afraid to take risks

  • The greatest failure is the failure to try

2. We fail because we give up too soon.

  • "The path of lazy people is overgrown with briers;
the diligent walk down a smooth road. "-
    Proverbs 15:19
  • "So let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don't give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith. " - Galatians 6:9-10

1. Wer fail because we don't listen to God.

  • "There's a way of life that looks harmless enough;
look again—it leads straight to hell. Sure, those people appear to be having a good time,  but all that laughter will end in heartbreak. "
    - Proverbs 14:12-13

HOW TO GET A FRESH START

1.  Accept responsibility for your own failure

  • "You can't whitewash your sins and get by with it;
you find mercy by admitting and leaving them. "
    - Proverbs 28:13
  • "Answering before listening
       is both stupid and rude.
    " - Proverbs 18:13

3 great essentials in life :
            - something to do
            - something to have
            - something to  hope for

2. Stop regretting and start repenting

  • "Distress that drives us to God does that. It turns us around. It gets us back in the way of salvation. We never regret that kind of pain. But those who let distress drive them away from God are full of regrets, end up on a deathbed of regrets. " - 2 Corinthians 7:10
    • Godly Sorrow = motivates you to changes
    • Wordly Sorrow = demoralizing, depressing; it causes death (self pity)
  • it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways
  • "There has never yet been a man in our history who led a life of ease whose name is worth remembering. "-- Theodore Roosevelt

3. Forget the former and focus on the future

  •  "I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. " - Philippians 3:12-14
  • Peter
    • "Simon Peter asked, "Master, just where are you going?"
Jesus answered, "You can't now follow me where I'm going. You will follow later."
"Master," said Peter, "why can't I follow now? I'll lay down my life for you!"
"Really? You'll lay down your life for me? The truth is that before the rooster crows, you'll deny me three times."
      " - John 12:36-38
    • "The young woman who was the doorkeeper said to Peter, "Aren't you one of this man's disciples?"
         He said, "No, I'm not."
The servants and police had made a fire because of the cold and were huddled there warming themselves. Peter stood with them, trying to get warm. "
      - John 18:17-18
    • "Peter said, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about." At that very moment, the last word hardly off his lips, a rooster crowed. Just then, the Master turned and looked at Peter. Peter remembered what the Master had said to him: "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and cried and cried and cried. " - Luke 22:60-62
    • "Then he got really nervous and swore. "I don't know the man!"
Just then a rooster crowed. Peter remembered what Jesus had said: "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and cried and cried and cried. "
      - Matthew 26:75
  • Judas
    • "Judas, the one who betrayed him, realized that Jesus was doomed. Overcome with remorse, he gave back the thirty silver coins to the high priests, saying, "I've sinned. I've betrayed an innocent man."
They said, "What do we care? That's your problem!" "
      - Matthew 27:3
    • Both Peter and Judas were...
      • disciples
      • denied Christ
      • devastated by their own failure
    •    But they responded to their failures in totally different ways

4, Trust God to work it all out.

  • "Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. " - Romans 8:26-28
  • "Next, God spoke to Jonah a second time: "Up on your feet and on your way to the big city of Nineveh! Preach to them. They're in a bad way and I can't ignore it any longer." " - Jonah 3:1-2

"The history of man's progress parallels his ability to overcome his fear" - Joe Powell
